As promised, here are a few more portraits from my Anytime Shoot with Kristyn last week. Kristyn and I have been friends for a few years now. Not only are we friends, but we're now running buddies and we train for respective marathon/ half-marathons. Last week it was fun just to get out and have a good time with the camera and NOT RUN! A Few Faves From the Red Carpet

The 2010 Acadmy Awards were last night. Honestly, I've never cared too much about the award shows, but I always enjoy watching a few minutes of the red carpet to catch a few of the best and worst looks of the evening. If nothing else, it helps me feel a tiny bit more in the loop when People Magazine hits the stand.

So... last night, my friend Ruffin and I made it a total girls night. We ate some pizza, painted our nails, and watched the Oscars, all while looking at magazines and talking about decorating. We are sooo multi-talented. We watched the red carpet fashions carefully and had a few different opinions about what we liked (was Sarah Jessica Parker's dress really that cute? Me thinks not. Actually, she didn't care for that one either.). All things considered, everyone looked beautiful. Here are just a few of my favorite dresses from last night!

Love these blush palettes. Demi Moore in Versace. This dress took some flack as many people said it's been done before, but I love it. Blushy pink and ruffles... what's not to love?

And... my very favorite of the night. Rachel McAdam's was amazing in this silvery-blue Elie Saab Couture gown. The sweetheart neckline and criss-cross bodice is so flattering. I couldn't really see the floral print last night, but it's gorgeous.

Fayetteville Photographer: Trailside Cafe & Tea Room

Today I had the pleasure of visiting with Rachel Duncan over lunch at the Trailside Cafe & Tea Room. Rachel is the Director of Marketing at the Pratt Place Inn, one of the most beloved wedding venues in Northwest Arkansas. One of the best parts of my job is getting to meet new people and having those relationships turn into friendships. Rachel is definitely someone that I look forward to being good friends with in the future. I had a wonderful time learning more about her. Point of interest: Not only does Rachel help couples in their wedding planning, but she is currently in the process of planning her own May wedding!

Here are a few pics I snapped in the cafe today. If you haven't been to the Trailside Cafe & Tea Room, make sure to stop by. It's lovely. You can find it just off the Fayetteville Square on Center Street beside the trail :)

Fayetteville Portraits: Kym: Anytime

I don't remember exactly how we met the first time. I had just moved to Fayetteville from Dallas, and Kym was preparing to move to London to work on staff with Young Life. Kym oozes calm and cool in a way that draws others to her. She has a no-nonsense, sensible way about her that tends to not be too worried about what people think. She knows all there is to know about music; not the mainstream stuff, the bands and musicians that no one has ever heard of. She laughs easily and she is always up for a good conversation. We were meant to be friends.

Fast-forward three years. Kym moved back to Fayetteville last fall and is transitioning back to life in the States. As much as she enjoys life here, Kym will always be a bit of a British soul. She now prefers walking to driving, loves a cup of tea boiled from her electric kettle, and uses words like "rubbish", "lovely", and "cheeky". As she prepares for a new chapter of life, I thought it would be fun to go out and take a few pictures to chronicle the here and now; just one small step of the journey.

Jewelry & Jackets, Skirts & Shoes: NWA Photographer

One of the questions I am asked most frequently by clients is "What do we wear for our photo session?". As the weather is starting to warm up ( I say this with my fingers crossed!), and I have some fun shoots coming up, I thought it would be great to do a post about what to wear for a photo shoot. And, of course, no post is complete without a little eye candy.

I pulled together a little inspiration from J. Crew. They're brilliant in my opinion.

Pops of bright color. Coordinating, but not too matchy.

Layering clothing always photographs well. Don't be afraid to mix it up!

If you're a jewelry girl, don't be afraid to pile it on!

Shoes are just as important as the rest of the outfit. Have fun experimenting with heels, boots, or a pair of fun flats. A good pair of heels always make things better, right???

Guys, casual layering is perfect. Have fun with it!

A shirt, sweater, jacket/coat and you're ready to go!

As always, the most important thing to remember is to stay true to who YOU are and wear something that you feel great in!



A Few Fun Things: Northwest Arkansas Wedding Photographer

For brides, if you have not been to Style Me Pretty and The Wedding Chicks, you must run... yes RUN to check them out! The beauty, sheer brilliance, and creativity will make you swoon. Are you thinking about what to wear for an engagement session? Check out Anthropologie and The Sartorialist. These are two of my very favorite places to go and both make me feel equally weak in the knees. You may remember me mentioning Amy Hannon at Sincerely Yours a few weeks ago. She is pure genius and chock full of creativity. She is the perfect person to go to for all of your paper-printing needs!

Photographers, if you haven't yet joined The [B] School you're missing out! I joined about a year ago and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made for my business. The [B] School is an online forum for photographers worldwide with the purpose of helping photographers connect to one another. It is a place to collectively pool our resources and knowledge and just... help each other out! I have received so much encouragement from other photographers there who are facing many of the same challenges that I face and have learned about countless resources that I didn't even know existed! This place is a MUST!
